Friday Is Good Because Sunday Is Coming
Embrace New Beginnings in Christ
No matter how hard the week has been, Sunday brings renewal and hope. Just as Jesus rose from the dead, we can reset and refocus, leaving behind guilt and distractions. Whether you’ve struggled spiritually or physically, Sunday is a reminder of God's mercy and the chance for a fresh start. Embrace the new beginnings He offers today.
Friday Is Good Because Sunday Is Coming
When we hear this phrase in the spiritual world, our minds immediately go to the victory of Christ—the triumph over sin, death, and the grave that was revealed on Sunday, the third day after His crucifixion. It is the foundation of our faith: Jesus died, was buried, and rose again, bringing hope to the hopeless and life to the lifeless (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
But in the Western world, when we think of Friday, we often see it as the beginning of the weekend—a time to relax, take a break, and step away from the grind of work. For many, it’s a time to be "off"—off work, off responsibilities, off strict schedules. Ironically, though, the weekend is often when we are most "off" in other areas too.
The Weekend Slump
If we’re honest, weekends can be when we lose focus.
• We may go off our diets.
• We may slack off in our workout routines.
• We may drift off from the habits that keep us spiritually disciplined.
And if we're really honest, sometimes we're off spiritually as well. We might neglect prayer, push aside time in the Word, or fall into distractions that pull us away from God's presence. The enemy loves to use these moments to make us feel distant, guilty, or even ashamed. But here’s the good news: Sunday is coming!
The Power of Sunday
Sunday is more than just another day—it is a symbol of new beginnings. It’s the day Jesus rose, proving that darkness doesn’t have the final say.
• Maybe you’ve been distracted by life.
• Maybe you’ve made choices that left you feeling lost. • Maybe shame has crept in and made you feel unworthy.
But Sunday represents hope. It’s a reminder that no matter how "off" you've been, you can get back on track.
Lamentations 3:22-23 tells us:
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
Sunday is about resetting, refocusing, and re-engaging with what God has called us to do. It’s a time to prepare our hearts, refocus our minds, and step forward in faith.
A New Beginning
If Friday was hard, and Saturday felt uncertain, take heart—Sunday is coming.
• Sunday is a call to renewed purpose.
• Sunday is a reminder that God’s grace is greater than our failures. • Sunday is an invitation to get back on task, refocus, and walk in victory.
Isaiah 43:18-19 says:
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?"
It doesn’t matter what yesterday looked like. It doesn’t matter if you stumbled, got distracted, or felt stuck. God’s mercies are new every morning—including this one.
So, take heart, my friend. Sunday is coming! Get ready for a new beginning.
